Title: Looking for Henty May Chappell
Post by: pincard on Thursday 03 February 11 19:36 GMT (UK)
I was wondering if anyone can help. I have a photograph of a young girl taken in 1879. Her name is Henty May Chappell and she was born may 1st 1871.Portsea.
I thought I would try to find her family and if lucky I would be able to find a family researching her and scan to them her photo.
But I can only find her birth and nothing else at all.
Wondered if another pair of eyes may help please

Same here - birth only.  She may have been illegitimate or father in the forces

There can't be many Henty May CHAPPELLS about.

There is one listed as an early settler of Te Puke, New Zealand on this site

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~sooty/TPKSettlers.html

She is aged 9 in 1880 so is the right age.

I wonder if ther are any descendants in New Zealand - it might be worth posting a request on the New Zealand board.

They sailed on the Lady Jocelyn.  There seems to be quite a bit about the history of Te Puke on the Internet.

It looks like I am a descendant of Henty May Chappell as posted by pincard on Saturday 5 Feb.   :)  i am new to rootschat and was very excited to see posts by pincard and others.  Not so sure how this might get to you guys??? Aunt Mildred Williams was my Great Aunt.  She moved to to Sydney Australia which may be why you couldn't find a death registration in New Zealand.  My Grandpop was Charles Williams, son of Arthur Owen Williams and May Chappell (as we knew of her).  Mildred pretty well brought up Charles (Charlie).  Charles Williams was my mum's father.  I am really keen to find out more about my family.  Charles died in his early sixties I think from multiple strokes when I was about eight years old (that makes it 1968).  I could tell you some amazing stories about Mildred, she was a character, though probably best told by my Mother Jillian Eleanor Williams.  Grandpop (Charles Williams) was a bit larger than life character, based in Wellington New Zealand.

Welcome to RootsChat.  I have merged your post with one that pincard made back in February.  Hopefully you will soon be in touch with each other.  :)
