Joseph Cherrie married to Mary Pritchard 1910 in Coatbridge
The record can be veiwed at scotlandspeople (http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/) which is a pay per veiw site
You should also be able to find them quite easily on the census

James Cherrie, Son, age 15, born c1876 in Airdrie, Occupation: Tubework Labourer
Elizabeth L. Cherrie, (Lizzie) Daughter, age 13, born c1878 in Airdrie
Joseph Cherrie, Son, age 11, born c1880 in Airdrie, Scholar

in 1901, living at 31 Southburn Road, New Monkland (Glenmavis/Airdrie) :
Benjamin Cherrie, Head, age 40, born c1861 in Airdrie, Occupation: Iron Turner
Bethia Cherrie, Wife, age 47, born c1854 in Fordyce, Banffshire
Joseph Cherrie, Son, age 22, born c1879 in Airdrie, Occupation: Tubework Labourer
Benjamin Cherrie, Son, age 20, born c1881 in Coatbridge, Occupation: Iron Moulder's Apprentice
Alexander Cherrie, Son, age 16, born c1885 in Airdrie, Occupation: Iron Moulder's Apprentice
Archibald Cherrie, Son, age 12, born c1889 in Airdrie, Occupation: Tubework Labourer
*Jane Cherrie, Daughter, age 2, born c1889 in Airdrie, Scholar
John Cherrie, Son, age 9, born c1892 in Airdrie, Scholar
*Probably 'Jeanie' with her age transcribed as 2 rather than 12?
I would think it would be worth downloading the images from Scotland's People for these 3 Censuses. Bethia might simply be a transcription error, but if not, then you have a second wife for Benjamin.

There is also a British Army Pension Record for a Joseph Cherrie of Airdrie.
It confirms that he married Mary Pritchard on 1st April 1910 and that by 1915, they had 2 children, namely Mary Marshall Craib (or Craik) Cherrie, born 15th November 1912? and Benjamin Smith Cherrie born 17th? May? 1914. (Bits quite difficult to read)
Joseph was discharged from the Army Service Corps, 224th Coy., on 7th May 1915 aged 35 (date of birth listed as 9th September 1879)
Wife Mary was living at 20 Commonside Street, Airdrie.
I have sent you a PM regarding the Service Record.

Hi Yv - you seem to have struck gold here! :D
It looks like my guess about Joseph was right as Mary M C CHERRIE reached Barrow and married there - twice!
Marriages Jun 1935
CHERRIE Mary M C (to Wilfred HARTLEY) Barrow F. 8e 2096
Marriages Mar 1937
ALLPORT Alfred (HARTLEY) Barrow F. 8e 1509
ALLPORT Alfred (CHERRIE) Barrow F. 8e 1509
CHERRIE Mary M C (ALLPORT) Barrow F. 8e 1509
HARTLEY Mary M C (ALLPORT) Barrow F. 8e 1509
I think this means the first marriage was dissolved/nullified.

I'm posting this on behalf of 'leftalone/Yv' who I think mistakenly sent this to me rather than replying on this thread:
"Many, many thanks to everyone who made the effort and responded to my queries.
All the information was very useful and accurate.
Indeed I was able to confirm much of the information, while I read some old letters my mother sent me yrs ago.
Once again, your help has been very much appreciated."[/b][/i]

Thanks Jim,
I wasn´t sure about Bethia´s surname Craik or Craib.
I think we are quite a large family after all. :)
Now I´m going to see what the SP method is... ;)
