Hi,
I am trying to knock down a brick wall, and was hoping that someone may be able to look up a record for a marriage between Peter Phillips and Anne Knight on 28/09/1811 at Greatham. I am hoping that there may be either fathers names or other potential relatives if by banns. I can't seem to go back any further than this couple,
many thanks,
Julie

Hi,
Can only find this http://www.knightroots.co.uk/transcriptions/Parishes_G/Greatham/Marriages/marriages.htm but the site may be worth further investigation to find Peter's baptism.

I can confirm the marriage from a transcript of the register, but please remember that before 1837 no parents' names were included in a marriage register entry - there simply was not a 'box' for them to be recorded.
I cannot find a marriage allegation in Hampshire, so they probably married by banns, but please do check the original record if possible.
There seems to have been a son William baptised the following year in Binstead - Ann's home parish?
Could Peter have been born in Sussex?
