Title: HARAM family in Wakefield c 1739
Post by: Jeano on Tuesday 26 July 11 16:09 BST (UK)
Hello,I have recently -on Anc .com found that a Richard Haram I THOUGHT was chr at Castleford-was actually chr at Wakefield-there being two Richard's born in West Riding -same year ,I have obtained the copy of the parish entry.I would be interested IF anyone is working on Haram -and deviant spellings of the name at Wakefield area.
Richard married a girl from Gainsborough -Gertrude Barratt, and apart from one child chr in Hatfield for some reason-the family were born/chr at Gainsborough, until  Joseph the youngest child went to Whitby-he was a weaver and wove sails so if need be-they had to go with the ship-and Joseph and his wife Ann-(could be a Gainsborough-OR a Whitbygirl-)they had two children at Whitby, the elder one -a girl-was chr at Gainsborough-she probably died young as nothing further is found-the son was chr at Whitby, and from him -my 3xgt grandfather, eventually the family were in Hull where I was born.So would be pleased to hear from anyone with family linked etc to my Wakefield ones. Thanks,Jeano ???

Regarding your post of the Haram family, My great Aunt x 3, Kitty Thornhill, married Thomas Harem, son of  Joseph and Ann, of Whitby. I have information about their sons and daughters if they are of interest to you. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Jeano
You might find it helpful to put a message on  "Wakefield Family History Sharing" where there is a wealth of knowledge about Wakefield and district.  -- not to be confused with Wakefield FHS.

Trying to find out more about Kitty Thornhill. It appears she was married in 1824 to Thomas Haram. Do you know where I can get evidence of this from in any of the online records please.
Many Thanks

:D Hello Sarah,Yes I do have the information that you want.
Thomas Haram(signed HARAND in error) bachelor married Kitty Thornhill spinster at Sculcoates Parish Church,Hull botp-on September 4 1824.By Banns-officiating minister was William Preston.Witnesses were-John Dunstan amd Ann I Brown.
This information is to be found in a record of marriages at SculcoatesI have as I was for years a member of the East Yorks Family History Society and purchased books etc.The record book is dated from April 1821 to December 1829.Picture of the church on the front.

I wish I could find what happened to Kitty-as I know that the children William and Mary Jane were in Hull.I know where they lived etc etc.Mary Jane went to Gainsborough-as did Thomas-he died in the workhouse hospiyal there.William married and raised a family from which I descend.I have searched
to see if there was cholera etc that would see her demise.I know others have also looked that were tied in with my tree.
My Haram's were in West Riding until one-a Richard went to Gainsborough. There were others in the family and I am trying to tie up mine to the other trees-have worked on this for years-and with the name I cannot see any doubt-not many around!
Take Care,Jean
