The website Hearth Tax Online (http://www.hearthtax.org.uk) has just released a surname index for the Yorkshire East Riding hearth tax return for 1672 (E179/205/504) and including Kingston upon Hull for 1673 (E179/205/505).
It can be downloaded, completely free of charge, in searchable PDF format.
