found the marriage now
James Docherty & Jane McCallion 1890 628/00 0108
Looks like James is using both surnames. Possible birth for him in IGI batch C116281for Cambusnethan as James Johnston Brownlie, mother Elizabeth, no father shown.

HI everyone
Thanks for the leads and I'll add that in my research. I still think Jane's last name is McCullan as I have the marriage record of James and Janet. I don't think it can be linked to McCallum or McCalion as the signature is quite clear. Needless to say, I welcome all feedback and will still look in those directions as well

Many thanks for the information especially Buchanan side. You have filled in a few blanks. for me as well as my Father aged 87 who takes a very active interest in the research.
Per haps I can give you a little info. Andrew Buchanan of Fintry(originally Barony Parish Glasgow) born 1849 Died in 1890. Given that James Brownlie was born to Jane and James senior in 1892, the marriage presumably took place within that short time scale, however from certificates, that I have,, at some point Jane's name was transposed to "McCallion"In fact her maiden name on some birth certificates is given as McCallion. Hope this helps

This refers to a topic I believe started by Loves Autumn in 2011. Hopefully not too out of date because as usual I got sidetracked.
I returned to Jane McCallum of Cambusnethan, recently and now have her Death certificate, dated 1931,definitely her as she was widowed twice and both husbands match totally. The difficulty seems to have been the spelling of her surname during her lifetime i.e. McCallum/McCallion. Even her death certificate carries the name of MacAllion. Go figure. Jane married twice during her lifetime, the first name is Buchanan and the second is Brownlie and had children to both husbands. I think there might now be some connection to Australia.
Anyway if Loves Autumn, no contact details available, or anyone else for that matter needs further info please do not hesitate to contact me. I have info on the Buchanan family and some for the Brownlie family. After all the help I have been given by your good selves in the past it is the least I can do.
