Post by: alphingtonian on Saturday 23 July 11 21:01 BST (UK)
Would someone be able to help me please.

I am trying to find out who the Squire of Bewdley was in the early part of 1847. I have done loads of searches using search engines but with no luck.

Thanking you.

It says here:
http://www.parishmouse.com/worcs/2009/3/30/bewdley-wribbenhall-and-neighbours-pigots-directory-1842.html
"Sir Thomas Edward Winnington, Bart. M.P. of Stamford Court, in this county, is lord of the manor"

and I assume it was this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Thomas_Winnington,_4th_Baronet

I hope that is correct :-)

Thomas Ireland seems to have been MP for Bewdley from 1847-1848 but presume taht Sir Thomas Winnington was still lord of the manor even if he lost his seat.

(Sometimes it helps to google Ribbesford or Wribbenhall for Bewdley stuff).
