Hi all ,
Just wondering , when ordering certs , do I use the forms I downloaded from their site ?
They dont seem relevant for research purposes and dont require info about volume , page
number etc . This is my first time ordering them .

see : Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,433040.0.html)
It's best to use the form from the GRO website for your own details - i.e. name, address, credit card etc, but the forms are designed for more recent (i.e. legal) certs, rather than historic research certs.
Just include the index references on a separate, attached sheet - i.e. name, record type, year/quarter, registration district , volume no. & page no.

i've often written to the GRO with just the basic information, including page and volume number, including names etc. and not used any official form. worked for me.

Hi
I ordered two certs using their online service this week which says I should receive them within 5 working days. It was very easy to use so I will let you know how it goes

Thank you both for your replies . Have recently ordered certs by post and received them within 5 days.
Would be interested in trying their online method though . Keep me posted !!

Got the certs on 14th September but to be fair they searched but could not find one of the certs, turned out the birth and death of my aunt who was born in 1926 and died in 1933 was never registered. This must have delayed the certs so a good service I would say

Thanks for keeping me posted Paul . Pity about the delay , but as you said , probably wasnt their fault .
Love when the certs arrive though and you discover things you didnt know before . All part of the addiction of genealogy !!
