Also 1910 North street  Midland Junction. James a labourer and only using the name James.

Maybe this site could help you with any possible connection to Scottish Freemasonry.

Hi,
Yes yes and yes to all, thank you,
I was going through "TROVE" several months ago and saw an article on "James Freer" I can't quote it word for word as I can't find it now,
but something to the effect of,
"James Freer, founder of the Scottish Freemasons West Midlands or Midland Junction"  with his title in the Freemasons something like GMSFP (but not those letters, these letters are the first letters to each word within the title such as Grand Master.
I've been through TROVE the past 3 days but now cannot find that article.
I have also looked at the Freemason sites, they have the "Contact us" link, yet they don't reply.

Do you have all the family notices on Trove?
I tried putting a link but it didn't work. I found them by using Christina Freer.
James obit doesn't mention Scottish Freemasonry.

Great, thank you, that is somewhat of a confirmation, F.A.Freer was brother of James, Frederick Adam., all I need to find now is what title James held, but the Grand Lodge don't seem to like answering emails, my main goal is to find a photo/painting of him, I am sure the lodge would have one if he where high ranking.

I seem to be suggesting everything you have already tried. How about the WA genealogical society. They also have forums.

Thanks, we have found a lot of the genealogy side of things, many thanks to many in here, but when it comes to a secret society like the Freemasons it seems to get harder, they are somewhat reluctant to give information unless one is a member, even though they have a web site and the "Contact Us" link, they walk amoung us and we don't know, that's not to be rude to them, but it does make it hard working things out.

Hi Troods, the main thing we are attempting to find out is the Freemason history of James Freer, it was suggested in a paper article I found in Trove the he founded the Midland Lodge or the Midland Junction Lodge, I have sent a couple of emails to the Grand Lodge over the last 6/7 months but they don't reply, I do get the auto responder to say they did get the email, but that's it.

Hi all- I am just starting to do the freer family history and am the son of Donald Freer who is the son of James and Christina , my name being donald John Freer- Most of your postings seem to be around july 2011 so I may be a little late to catch anyone-hopefully not-most of the information posted is correct and at this time I can add little else other than information on Donald and His Brother James.
