I'm trying to find out more about Bill Kinnell, who died in 1987 in Suffolk. He seems he "ran" a jazz club called The Dancing Slipper in Nottingham and also a record shop (in an Arcade off Prliament Street).
I've seen a couple of on-line articles, but nothing in much detail, but he did have only one arm :o
Does anyone have access to local news articles? Was there an obit for him in the Evening Post?

Hi Mareanna,
You could try contacting the Local history dept at Angel Row Library
enquiryline@nottinghamcity.gov.uk
I have always found them very helpful. They have all the Newspaper archives there.
Best wishes,

Erm, I did wonder what that site was ::) but yes there were a couple of articles that mentioned Bill ;D
I guess he was the sort who was well known in a small circle and there aren't any of his contempories still around. Ken Clarke's still shuffling around in his hush puppies tho'
Thanks for the tip copperbeech, I'll ask at the library if there are any references to Bill.
My husband has a recollection that it was Bill who gave him his trumpet to play. Makes sense really, one arm and all that :P

The Dancing Slipper as I know of was in West Bridgford, now called The West End...go there quite a bit. It's on the main shopping street in West Bridgford called central Avenue, if you look on google maps, it is opposite the car park.
Am assuming the record shop was in West End Arcade
Saw the message about Ken Clarke, spot on there so you might possibly know this info already
