Does anyone have any information on James & Julia Rorke of Ballinasloe, County Galway, or on their son Benjamin Rorke? Benjamin would probably have been born in the late 1700's.

Thanks for your response. I really only have info that they were from Ballinasloe, Galway and that I descend from one of their sons, Benjamin Rorke. I don't have birthdates/places or burial info but would like to know more so that I can visit their final resting place one day. I live in the UK and have never been to Ireland.

If you go back the way from your self to Benjamin Rouke who you say you are descended from what dates do you have.
Do you have anything on Benjamin as i think this is were you have to start from.
Without any dates to work from the task is difficult,

4   Richard Glynn Rorke   b: 22 Oct 1859   d: 13 Oct 1939
        Age at death: 79   
+   Maria Johanna Merrells or Wessels?   d: 15 Sep 1930
        Age at death: ?      

5   Stafford Owen Rorke   b: 03 Aug 1919 in Pretoria, South Africa
   d: 26 Oct 1996 in Port Elizabeth, SA.   
   Age at death: 77

The last (no 5) are my late mother and father.

BTW my connection to the Rorke's in very tenuous...an uncle of my grandfather married a widow of one of the Rorkes.

Good Evening,

I came across this post while doing some research on the Merrells Family.

I’m not 100% sure anyone would be able to help me, but I saw a part of this chat mentioning a Maria Johanna Merrells / Wessels...

I have a small discrepancy on the Merrells surname (found documents - marriage and death certificates) that indicate it. 

My question is why do you have uncertainty in regards to Merrells / Wessels?  Also, do you have any further information on Maria Johanna?
