Title: Year of Car Reg
Post by: lavina on Sunday 17 July 11 20:20 BST (UK)
I have a photo of a family group, showing them stood by a very old car. I'm trying to work out which generation it is from.  Is there a web site could help?
The number is HJ 8874.

Hi

HJ was a southend prefix. The dates for HJ are Apr 1914 > Jun 1930 it was then reused from May 1961

Yes late 1920s Southend. http://www.numberplates.com/private-plates-issued/issued.asp

The "reusing" from 1961 was of the form 1234 HJ

Thanks to you both.
I will look at both the links and hopefully gain a result.

Geoff.
