Title: Clacton Lookup for Mary CARRINGTON

Hello,

My Gx4 grandmother was Mary Carrington. She was married in Great Clacton on 26 Dec 1826 (to George Watling), and she died on 26 Apr 1839 - but I do not know where she was from.

I have found other Carrington's in Harwich/Ramsey, as well as Great Clacton - but I'm unsure which of these branches she belongs to, if any, as I have had no luck locating her baptism.

I suspect she's from Great Clacton - does anyone have access to these parish records?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

How old was she when she died as that gives a rough idea of her birthyear

She was 35 - I forget that key bit of info didn't I  :-[

So born around 1804.   :)

There is a baptism for a Mary Carrington on FreeREG 26/4/1801 at St Mary the Virgin church, Ardleigh. Don't know how far this is from the area you are looking. Father was John Carrrington, Mother Joice.

Although I cannot give you any further information on Mary , I do have some information about George. he was married before he married Mary to Elizabeth Gladwell who was my gt gt gt gt aunt. I have Mary as being born 1801 in Great Clacton.
George was one of the Swing Rioters in Great Clacton and I do have some details of his naval History and the Swing Riot Trials.I have the book Essex Machine Breakers which gives quite a lot of details about George in it if you would like me to scan the relevant pages for you.

Firstly, I have Gladwell's in my family and always suspected Elizabeth Gladwell could be related - is she linked to the Haughley, Suffolk, Gladwell's?

I didn't know George was involved in the Swing Riots.   :o  Please do send me the information you have about him, I would love to see it.     ;D
