Post by: Somme on Thursday 14 July 11 21:09 BST (UK)
I am trying to find out as much as I can about  my Grand Uncle Eugene Mehegan, who was born in 1881 in Cork City,Ireland.Eugene joined the Royal Munster Fusiliers in c.1900.He was attached to the 5th Battalion.I know that he died in 1937.I am particlarly interested in his time in the Fusiliers;where was he stationed?,etc.Thank you.

This could be a mistranscription of his Medal Card for WW1...Ill have a look on Ancestry see if its clearer

If dad was charles mum mary and he was a postman living at 41 Lough Rd Cork...You are in luck his service record is on ancestry...6445 he was a POW in WW1

It might also be worth touching base with the Cork Great War Project who have a page on Facebook, they seem to have a lot of info on the Munster's - ken

I am glad I saw this, I had believed this Eugene Mehegan to be my uncle.  My Eugene Mehegan lived in Queenstown and his parents were Eugene and Ellen Mehegan.
