-
Hi Janette
I did find these probates and Kiwihalfpint very kindly obtained copies of Harry and Bertie for me. I'm not sure if William is mine or not so I didn't ask as I didn't want to push it lol! I know very little about the nz Leatherbarrow's, even though they are very closely related to me - so this is a completely new game to me.
There can't be many Leatherbarrow's in nz can there??!! :-\
With thanks and regards, Kate
-
Hi Kate,
There is a snippet about Harry here

Hi,Missy.Re Leatherbarrow's in Auckland, N.Z,
Albert was my Grandfather, Beatrice my Grandmother, Bertie my Father, & Harry my Uncle.
Bertie had 2 daughters, (I am the oldest) Harry had 1 daughter. There are no sons to carry on the name.
We were the only family in Auckland with the Leatherbarrow name.
Even looking in the Auck/Ph directory today. There are still no listings with that surname.
I don't know how to post a message, or reply to yours, received today.
So hopefully this will find you.
Keep in touch.
Kind Regards,
Colleen Mary. (collcan)

Hi Colleen
Many thanks for your response, I am delighted to have found you. It was pure fluke that I ended up on RootsChat yesterday and decided to do a name interest search.......... and there you were!
Unfortuntely, I am unable to send you a PM to you as you've only made one post. It will be more private and perhaps easier if we message via email? My email address is (*)
My Grandfather Joseph was Albert's Brother who had two children Robert and Ellen. Robert is my Grandfather who had a Son Peter, my Father. I am the youngest of two daughters (we too have no boys to carry on the name).
I have so many questions for you but obviously don't wish to bombard you. I am so happy to find you well and hope that the earthquake did not affected your family?
Well, I can't wait to hear from you.
Kind Regards, Kate

Hi Kate, glad you got my post.
Your e-mail was withdrawn, (policy)
Please what is the PM (personal message) & mainly how do I Post one?? or is this what I am doing now??
I have my Dad's copy of his original B/Cert from Prestwich, obtained 1974, easier for family entry to gt britain then.
My G Mothers name was Amelia Beatrice (Underhill) . Husband Albert. Their daughter Beatrice (my Aunty)was born 06.
The family came to N.Z. in 1912, (I think). I never met Albert, as I was born 1935.
You must be so young? Joseph must have been your GGFather.
Are we allow to swap postal addresses?
Keep in touch, I don't go on line every day.
Kind Regards to you also.
Colleen.

Hi Colleen
I guess the best thing is to do what has been previously mentioned and send a brief reply to this posting. After that (as that will be your 3rd posting) if you click on my profile name you should be able to send a Personal Message from there. I certainly don't think it's wise to provide personal information such as an address. Great to hear from you and hope to hear from you by PM soon.
By the way, I'm not that young lol.... Joseph is my Great Grandfather though.
Regards, Kate
-
Thank you also again to Spades and Janette - it's down to your efforts that has led to me 'meeting' my 2nd Cousin. Hope you are both keeping well and not working too hard ;)

Hi, Kate, glad to hear back from you.

So will come online later.

Hi Colleen
Thanks for the update and I enthusiastically went and sent you a private message with my email address, as you've posted 3 times now, and you have my Personal Messages blocked, so it wouldn't send!!!
Anyway, not to worry, just have a lovely time with your Daughter and I look forward to hearing from you later.
Kindest regards, Kate

Thank you very much, once again Kiwihalfpint :)

No joy... you still have me blocked Colleen!
Best wishes, Kate

Hi, how do I unblock you??
-
Hi Kate, how do I unblock you ??
-
Hi Colleen
I'm not sure how you would unblock me. However, I have sent a PM asking the advice of another more experienced Roots Chatter and hope we can find out how to.
We will get there........... eventually!!
Until then, take care.
Kate

Okay .... this is the answer..
"What I think might have happened is that "collcan" might have clicked on her "Profile" which is on the main page, two rows down from the "Welcome back missy1800" , that takes you to another page, on the left side is wording "Modify Profile", click on Personal Messages.
Get your cousin to see if she has added you to the "Ignore List" .... if your name is there, needs to remove it, the scroll down the page and click on "Change Profile".
If not, .... then will need to get in touch with one of the Moderators"
It's over to you again Colleen. I do hope this works.

This Moderator has already offered advice by PM (just in case anyone thinks I'm not paying attention ;))
