Title: Albert Jones brother of Mary Alice Mattingly
Post by: Corsharn on Thursday 14 July 11 07:01 BST (UK)
Hi!
I am searching for information on Mary Alice Mattingly (nee Jones) brother Albert Jones.  He served in WW1 and was a prisoner of war in Germany.  I'm hoping there might be a descendant out there somewhere who could help me Please!! :).

A photo of Albert would be spectacular!! And any knowledge of his service medals would be brilliant. ;)

Albert Jones info...

Born 1882, Redfern, Sydney N.S.W. Australia
Father. William Jones born 1845 -+ Birkenhead, Cheshire, England
Mother. Eliza Jane Martin born 1850 Bolton, Lancashire. England
Siblings. Mary Alice - Edith - William - William Herbert - Eliza Ann - Ethel - Arthur - George - Herbert.

Being as Albert Jones is a common name ::) hoped his sister's married name MATTINGLY might help identify him.

Cheers, Corsharn

Do you suspect he enlisted into AIF or British Army?

If it was AIF thats good as the records are freely available online it would be a case of checking Next Of Kin.

I couldnt see one for that name with birthplace Redfern NSW though.

If you google Medal Tracker there is a service that is offered to trace medals.
