Hi, can anyone help with info on the marriage (or not?) of Robert Henry Griffiths b. C1843; d. 15/7/1903 aged 60yrs at Adelaide and Jane (Hills) b. C1852; d. 24/8/1921 aged 69 yrs at Eastwood, Adelaide.
Their children are daughters: EJ (Jean); Helena Rose; Bonnie Kate b. C 1885; and sons: IL; Hubert Edward; HW; TA; and Charles Octavious b. C1891; d. 31/7/1945 (the eighth child).
From what I have read in this post http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,377634.0.html Robert Henry Griffiths was married to a Charlotte Anne Winzor and had two children, Frederick H b. 1864 and George Philip b. 1866. Since Charlotte Anne lived until 1924, did they divorce? Did he marry Jane?
Additionally, from this post http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,439178.0.html it seems that Jane had two children in Victoria in 1873 and 1875 prior to moving to SA and having more children with Robert Henry.
wimbush1975 who posted with the info re Jane Hills in Vic. and Robert Henry's first marriage (things of which I was previously unaware) hasn't posted for three years so I suppose I won't be able to contact them to verify that info.
ETA most of the info I have is from the Trove resource.

According to the Biographical Index of Sth Australia (which is not always correct),
Robert Henry Griffiths and Jane HILLS married in 1875 in Melbourne.

In the BIRSA it looks as if Isaac Louis' birth date has been fudged from his 'father U' birth in 1875, to 1877 ;) . ETA In Isaac Louis's marriage announcement he is also born 1877 (m. 1903, aged 26) .
Hmm, no marriage recorded in Vic with Jane, could it be Robert Henry is indeed Charlotte Ann Winzor's husband? I think I have Robert Henry arriving in SA in 1848 with his parents.
Re Janet666's post of children born to 'Henry' Griffiths, I have usually seen him referred to as RH Griffiths, I did once find him as Henry Griffiths, that in Eliza Jane (Jean)'s marriage announcement of 1901. Possibly he went by his middle name. ETA now listed as (Robert) Henry Griffiths.
Could you please tell me where that info is from?
So it seems that Isaac was Jane's second child to father Unknown, but the first, Arthur Robert doesn't get a further mention. Adopted out/ died? ETA so that baby died. It does say Hill rather than Hills but otherwise could fit.
With the third Victorian born child, Charles Hills father Unknown in 1881 I'm not sure this is the same Jane Hills as she has children born in SA in 1879 and 1882 ? If it is her, strange that she puts father unkown. ETA just got the update that this baby died.
I have seen the Index to Royal Women's Hospital Midwifery Book (1856-1876) records for the birth of her sons in 1873 and 1875. I haven't seen the records for the 1881 birth but the earlier records give the number of children the mother has, so that would be an indication.

I should add for your interest that JOHN O'BRIEN and JANE HILL/S have no other events recorded in Victoria in the years immediately preceding and the 2 decades following the death of ARTHUR ROBERT O'BRIEN.
