Hi
On the 1891 census from Wales address 6 Dunraven Terrace Ystradyfodwg Clydach Rhondda,he lived with his father David E Davies Head, his mother Mary Davies, his brothers Edward D Davies.William Davies Evan Davies and his sister Mary J Davies. Now Mary was born in Wales in 1886, so they must have gone out to America after that as he was born in 1888. They was back in Wales for the 1891 census. The rumour is that they went out to family there but no proof Any help gratfully received

HI Moorlands,
Looks like locating that birth record would be your best bet. There was no 1890 US Census, almost entirely destroyed by fire - so not many options to look at.

On the SS Nevada from Liverpool to New York, arriving 1 Jun. 1887, there are Mary Davies, age 24, wife; Ed. Davies, age 7, child; Wm. Davies, age 5, child; Evan Davies, age 3, child; and Mary Davies, age 8 months, infant.

I didn't see any matches for return trips, but the passenger list information I posted above is from a subscription site. There are also some New York passenger lists available for free at www.castlegarden.org, but I didn't see them on there. There are links to what passenger lists are available online here: http://www.germanroots.com/onlinelists.html
