Hi,
I have a Susanna Jenkin B. approx 1797 in Buckland Brewer, Devon. She married Samuel Frain 1817 in Buckland Brewer.
I am unable to find her parents, can anybody help?
Kind Regards
Katherine

There is an OPC for the parish who can provide free look-ups - see http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/BucklandBrewer/index.html and scroll down to Genealogy for the link. The marriage entry may give further information regarding Susanna's origins. A Susannah JENKINS was baptised there 1 Jul 1789, dau of John & Susannah.

Hi,
Have contacted the OPC and am awaiting a reply.
Ive come accross this birth record but dont think it can be the correct Susanna Jenkin as quite sure on my Susanna's birth being very close to 1797 (census returns and her death record on Ancestry).
I have found a date for her and Samuels marrage on the LDS website but there is no further info.
Many thanks
Kath

Hi Katherine
A baptism date is not a birth date, often people were baptised long after they were born.
If you are unable to find any parents or a birth for her, could she have been a widow when she married Samuel ??? you would need to see the actual marriage entry to ascertain what her status was.
Have you found her and Samuel on any census's which might help ??? or children ???

My recommendation about contacting the OPC was for her to check the original marriage entry to see if it contains more information than that given on the IGI.

Hi, yes i have her on the 1841, 1851 and 1861 census as well as her death index record on ancestry, they all put her as being born 1797 +/- 1 year, so i would think it would be unlikely her birth at 1789?
Hopefully the OPC will have further information.
I hadn't thaught she may have been a Widow, will look into that side now, thank you.

Is she was born in 1797 as per the census's, its not likely that she would be a widow at 20 but not impossible, I,ve known younger
