I am looking for Ann Storrs formerly Tether nee Kirman born about 1863 in Bardney and also George William Storrs/Stores around 1891. In 1888 Ann married Thomas Tether and a month later had a daughter. In 1889 Thomas Tether died and their daughter went to live with her maternal grandmother which shows up in the 1891 census. However there appears to be no trace of Ann under either Tether, Kirman or Storrs at this point. In late 1891 she married George William Storrs/Stores who on their marriage cert says that he was living in Potterhanworth and Ann was living in Bardney. It would seem that she has disappeared from 1889 to her marriage to George William Storrs when she resurfaced to marry him. He is also not easy to find either and I believe if I could find him then she would show up as I imagine that they would have known one another and been courting at the time of the census given that they married later that same year. I have also discovered in later census's that Anns first daughter (Jessie) did not return to live with her and George William and on the death of her maternal grandmother she went to live with her paternal grandparents despite their age and also despite her mother having another child only five years younger than Jessie. Can anyone give me ideas on how else to find where Ann and George were in April 1891 and also why Jessie never returned to her mother after her mothers remarriage. I did think that perhaps GW would not accept Jessie but am reliably informed that he did and in his later years was grandfather to Jessies children and in fact was very fond of children.

george was a foreman on a farm in 1901
the only one i can see that might be him on the 1891 census
is a george storrs aged 23 living in yorkshire working as a farm hand at glebe farm
he gives place of birth as sturton, lincs. the reg dist for sturton is gainsborough so that would fit with the birth posted

Hey Wozzle many thanks for that research. I did also find George at Glebe Farm but not being from UK was not sure if that fell into the rough areaswhere he could be found for his later marriage. I have their birth laces and other info but just could not find them in 1901. However Ann bein a nurse in Doncaster seems to ft her profile (my grandmother her second daughter was also a nurse in WW1). Will look all that up too..............I presume Doncaster is near bardney is it?

if you check the 1891 census for when ann was a nurse you will see that the head of the household was born in doncaster but they are actually living in a public house in bardney not doncaster

Hi Wozzle have looked up that info you gave me and it certainly fits them alright so many thanks for that. Took me ages to find them both despite the info you gave me as Annie Tether was transcribed as Fether which did not show when I did the person searches with optional name variations. I already had George as being at Glebe Farm but was not certain that was him as I do not know the areas over there. Once again many thanks for that help.........much appreciated :)
