Hi, jimmy39,

A bit of info on what I think is Hugh's service.

Hugh was initially in the 2nd AIF which is indicated by his NX169315 number (N = NSW)

The 2nd AIF officially ended on 30th June1947 and those who stayed on were transferred to the interim army which is represented by Hugh's NP7729 service number.

When the interim army became the permanent military forces his service number would have changed to 21481 or to be more correct 2/1481, with the 2 representing NSW.

Because Hugh had service beyond the AIF his records may be held in Melbourne but you can still get them.  Email the Australian National Archives at naa.gov.au and enquire.

Regards
Gerry

Sorry Jimmy39 I misread your post.

I see Hugh & Sadie on the 1943 Electoral Roll residing at the RMC Canberra the same enlistment place for Hugh junior in WW2.

Are you wanting further info re Hugh (snr) and Sadie - or just Hugh's army service?

I note these burials at Woden cemetery:
Sadie Thomson WILSON buried  Presbyterian section, May 1972
Hugh WILSON, ex-service personnel, June 1956

and at Gungahlin:
Hugh Thomson WILSON, Dec 1981

Jimmy,

I have sent you a PM re the marriage found on Scotlandspeople for Hugh Wilson 25 and Sarah Thomson McCormack 19 on 15th Feb 1918 at Irvine Ayr Scotland.  Hugh was a corporal in the Royal Engineers No 414059 and Sarah a munitions worker.

Hugh's father was Hugh (deceased farmer) and mother Ann Thomson.
Sarah's father was Robert McCormack Lance Corporal RSF and mother Maggie Doumachie (hard to read the name).

Further to Judith's post there is burial information on the same site for a Lorna Madge Wilson, died 13th Jan 2006 and buried at Gungahlin.

Lorna Madge Lewis joined the AWAS on 14th Dec 1943, refer to http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/script/name.asp

Regards
Gerry

I visited Woden Cemetery this morning
hoping that his headstone would have his Service Number
no luck
The headstone read

died 22/6/1956 at aged 64
