Does anyone know anything about the Poots family of Co. Down?
Also, does anyone know how they are related to the Crane family? Family trees and dates will especially be useful. I have already been on the surnames of co. down freewebs website but i don't know how any of them are related to me, only that my great grandmother was Martha Poots! Please help! 8)

I don't know about your Martha Poots but "eejayess" sent me the following message about a Margaret Poots a couple of months back.

I have a William Lindsay who was born in Ballymacormick Dromore abt. 1809 and was a Farmer, he married Margaret Poots in 1834 and had known children, Jane born 1835, George born 1837, William John born 1839, Robert born 1841 died before 1851, Margaret born 1844 and Robert born 1851.

Also try CAORA if you haven't already because there are many Poots listed
there including a lMartha Poots resident in Weirs Row Dromore (1901 census).
