Title: John Jamieson RIC
Post by: sue1959 on Wednesday 06 July 11 17:19 BST (UK)
I'm trying to info on John (stewart)Jamieson. He joined the RIC in c1916 but then he went to Brechin. I have a record of his death there. in c 1950's I think.
He was born in Ireland but a lot of his family moved to Scotland where we think they were originally from. I would much appreciate any info anyone may have. I don't know whether he stayed in the police as I think a few RIC officers went to Scotland when the RIC disbanded.

You could contact Jim Herlihy at Blarney Garda station. He has access to RIC records and may be able to help you with information about your ancestors career. His e-mail contact details are on the attached website:

Do you have more information about his family.  When was he born?  Was he married?  If he died in Scotland you will be able to get his parents names from the death certificate.  Had a quick look on Scotlandspeople for his death
but had no luck.

Here’s a John Stewart Jamieson aged 13 in the 1911 census:

And possibly/probably him in the 1901 census:
