Hi everyone :),
I have ordered a book from my local library for another member of RC. If it has any information that might be of assistance, how can I relay this without breaching coyright? Any advice greatly appreciated. :D

Hey Tipple ;D
I had an email earlier with some information from a book and the person sending it gave the Title and Author's name... Whether that was due to Copyright or just so I could find the book at a shop I don't know but I think that should be alright either way ;D

I believe that you are only infringing copyright if you copy substantial parts of a book. Photocopying a page or so shouldn't cause difficulties, but the library staff ought to be able to advise you about this.

I think you are able to copy a few pages of books for private study without infringing copyright
If you copy the whole book or intend to use the copies in published works of your own you could run into copyright problems

Hi there
When you go to the Library to pick up that book you could ask the Librarian .... who would probably indicate you may COPY no more than TEN percent ..... The Librarian may also suggest that it would not breach copyright if you were to TRANSCRIBE and CITE the ISBN details upon which you based the transcription you made.....
Alternatively you could contact the publisher and ask them for express written permission to copy from the book .... You may well be pleasantly surprised .... I once asked permission to quote from a book into a community newsletter I received express permission and several remainder copies of the book which were used as prizes ...
Cheers JM
