Trying to find records of their entry into the US during WW1. Have found a Gabriel Danko crossing into US via Niagara but I think it might be a girl as any other reference I've found relate to a woman.
Don't know if they married before or met up after they entered US. They settled in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Any help Appreciated.

I have just found a photo of their daughter who has just passed away in Anchorage, Alaska aged 90. It clearly states in the newspaper article she was born November 8th 1920 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Iren Sabo and Gabriel Danko, World War I immigrants from Hungary. Allison grew up during the Great Depression in and around Bridgeport and Westport.

Thanks that's my cousins Mum. They know nothing about her family so I thought it would be a nice suprise if I could come up with something. I've just found them in the 1930 census as Danks, Gabriel, 40
Irene, nee szabo, 40 both born in Hungary
Francis 1919, pensylvania
Charles 1919, bridgeport, CT
Irene 1920, Bridgeport
and
Ella (Allison) 1921, Bridgeport
I also think I've found Irene Szabo via IGI
born 1880 Heves, Hungary parents
Julianna Nagy
and
Istvany Szabo.
Can't find Gabriel though perhaps he changed his name.

One Family tree entry has the father of Gabriel as Mikolosh Danko and Mother Esther Papp. With 8 children.
And 2 others - Nicholas Danko and Esther Papp.

The 1923 Border Crossing gives date of birth as 10 Nov.1891. A Gabriel Danko born the same date died Sept.1977 at Bedford, Cuyahoga, Ohio and was divorced.
An Irene Danko born 15 or 20 May 1891 in 'other country' died 20 Dec.1893 Riverside, California. This could be Gabriel's wife/ex-wife since it looks like son Charles also died in California: Charles Gabriel Danko born 23 Sept.1917 Conn. died 2 Feb.1996 San Bernardino, Calif. (was married by 1942).
Wonder if their church would have any useful records. Hemlock St., Bridgeport (1930 address) is probably about 2 miles from St. Thomas' R.C. Church in Fairfield but they likely went to church in Bridgeport. Think St. Ann's would have been the nearest (about 1/2 mile).

I found some mentions in the Bridgeport paper in March, 1919 of real estate transactions involving Gabriel and Irene and the property at Hemlock St. On a less pleasant note, there were also articles mentioning Gabriel getting arrested in Feb. 1919 for throwing rocks at a man and Gabriel being in a car accident in Stamford in 1925.
