Hi
If any one has access to Selborne records can they please look up the birth of Edward Dalby Day B: c1827 parents were Edward Day and Elizabeth Dean, I would also like to find the marriage of his parents too.
Thanks and Cheers

Not having much luck with this one. No baptism, no marriage :(
Where does your information come from? And how reliable is it? Any other siblings?

Hi
It is on his marriage certificate and his death certificate, he married in Australia but I have not yet found how he got to Australia, and his middle name is Darby which I thought could his mothers maiden name or her mothers maiden name but I have had no luck with that line either, he listed his fathers occupation as a gamekeeper in Selborne, I don't know if he had any other siblings. This guy is turning into a real mystery.
cheers

It might be worth getting in touch with Dolina Carke who has an index of gamekeepers - dolina[at]djclarke.fsnet.co.uk
It is possible that he was born elsewhere but his father was in Selborne later? Yours Jane

I am wondering if the following might be of help. Bathsheba Day, daughter of Edward Day, game keeper, married in 1845.
In 1851, she said she was aged 28 [hence born c 1823] in Yarlington in Somerset.
Hence, it this is the same Edward Day, Bathsheba might be a sister to Edward DD and could have been born in Somerset - before the family came to Hampshire??
08 Oct 1845; Marriage - Edward TIZARD of full age; Bachelor of Weymouth Sailor; Father: William Stevens TIZARD Pilot;
& Bathsheba DAY of full age; Spinster of Melcombe Regis; Father: Edward DAY Gamekeeper; John Orton TIZARD & Jane TIZARD; T. Burn Anstis; By Licence
Marriage, Wyke Regis, Dorset.
1851 Census of Weymouth - District 4a - HO107/1857, 321-p2
9; Hope Quay No9;
Edward TIZARD; Head; Mar; 32; m; Pilot; Dorset Weymouth;
Bathsheba TIZARD; Wife; Mar; 28; f; Pilots Wife; Somerset Yarlington;
Mary Ann TIZARD; Daur; Sch; 5; f; Scholar; Dorset Weymouth;
Edward L TIZARD; Son; 2; m; Dorset Weymouth;
[Hence Bathsheba born c1823?]
Baptisms
June 01 1852 Bathsheba TIZARD; Edward & Bathsheba of Weymouth; Pilot
February 20 1859 Jane Florina TIZARD; Edward & Bathsheba of Weymouth; Mariner
The only Day/Selborne connection that I can find for the 1820s is:-
1829 9 Sep., Susan Day of Selborne, aged 20, buried.
No baptism found for her in Selborne in c1809.

Hi Jane,
I am also researching Edward Dalby Day.. my GGG Grandfather. I was wondering where you got the information that the father of Bathsheba was Edward Day (Gamekeeper)? Many on Ancestry have the father as Emanuel Day and Ann and with all the same dates you have. So Im wondering who is correct... How can I find that info out got myself?
Thanks Jane

Hi Toni,
Jane gives details from Batheba's marriage in her post, and as you can see, Bathsheba named her father as Edward, a gamekeeper.
08 Oct 1845; Marriage - Edward TIZARD of full age; Bachelor of Weymouth Sailor; Father: William Stevens TIZARD Pilot;
& Bathsheba DAY of full age; Spinster of Melcombe Regis; Father: Edward DAY Gamekeeper; John Orton TIZARD & Jane TIZARD; T. Burn Anstis; By Licence
Marriage, Wyke Regis, Dorset.
Perhaps those researchers on Ancestry have found evidence that this is not correct or perhaps a mistranscription. Unfortunately most don't tend to add these discoveries to their online trees so you are left wondering where they got it from.
There is a baptism at Yarlington for a Bathsheba DAY in 1822, but the parents are given as Emanuel and Mary, not Ann.
The marriage for Bathsheba on FamilySearch also names her father as Emanuel.
