Hi All
On the 1871 census, my ggg grandmother Jemima Pinnock (nee Cooke) is listed as living at what I swear looks like 'Dog Kennel No 28' in Ketteringham (see below) :o
The next actual address is Carlton Rd but it is a good page and a half after this entry.
Can any of you lovely people more local to Norfolk shed any light on this -where it was and if it was actually as it sounded?
All theories welcome! :-\

Don't know about this one, not being local, but an ancestor of mine lived in the dog kennels at Culzean Castle. He was a gamekeeper. The keeper's house and the kennels were part of the same building.

There are lots of Dogkennel/Dog Kennel lanes, roads etc and lots of houses called "The Kennels" etc . They may be conversions (as with barns, stables etc) , but are more likely to be perfectly adequate houses built on the site of a kennels.
I have a distant uncle who lived at "The Kennels" which at the time he lived there was a terrace of 3 houses and now is a quite substantial house.

Hi there
I'm researching lots of Pinnocks in Norfolk in the Hethersett area as well as Attleborough. If I find that 'Jemima' is a joint relative, I'll let you know! At the mo, I'm back to 1817 with John Salisbury Pinnock. Heard of him on your travels? HIL

Could it mean Dog Kennels, 28 Carlton Road, Ketteringham? And that address was the name of a kennel business, perhaps with a house?

The thread is from last year.

Thank you, I was aware of that. :)
