For attention of Jim1
Jim, as per your suggestion, please paste the marriage details of Joseph Mumford and Elizabeth 'Langun' at St Martin's Birmingham 7th Jul 1713.
Thanks Leofric

This is Elizabeth from the marriage entry.

I read it as Lamgun

Is Elizabeth of French descent? There is a surname and place name spelled Languin, and there is a village in France spelled Laingun. Can't find a surname spelled Lamgun, though, Braw. Fran
-
Thanks for that Jim,
Well, the IGI has it as Lamgun, and it looks like that to me, although there is a slight squiggle at the end of the 'n' which may have been an attempt to turn it into an 'm', and therefore giving Lamgum.
I have no idea if the lady was foreign. But trawling through the names beginning with 'L' on the batch number MO1072-2 there is nothing else close to it.
I wonder if her name was actually Langham, but due to accent distortion was written incorrectly...
If anyone has any bright ideas - feel free to chip in!

I think it says Langam (which could be a misspelling of Langham).

Another look - could it be Lannigan?

I would tend to agree with braw... appears to be Lamgun.
