Can anyone help me out here with this one,I would like to have a photo of my mum on her own but this is the only half decent picture of her that i have,she is the lady who has on the v neck dress with her hand across her tummy, the sixth one in from the man on the left with the stick on back row

This really needs to be rescanned at a much higher resolution.
This is a very low 72 dpi and should be at least 300dpi to get a good result

I had a try with some freebee enlarging software and then Photoshop. Not too good, I'm afraid.
I think that it would be best if you can do what Irene suggests and rescan at as high a resolution as you can but with no compression. Details are at the top of the board.

Not much to work with there unfortunately.
As Niksmum says, if you can have the photo scanned at 300 dots per inch, (or higher) you will have an increased chance of a usable result.
To keep the scanned image file size down try to scan just the area around your mum. We would be cutting the rest off anyway.
Here's a rough cut for now.

Thanks everyone i will have a go at scanning it but i don't hold out much hope as i am no good at all that stuff,many thanks again for your efforts.

I am sorry to say that this has also been rescanned at 72dpi :(
You need to adjust your scanner properties to 300dpi

Hope this one works I set the printer to 300 and scanned it but it was to easy !
