Title: Chebsey/Wolaston
Post by: sooshi on Tuesday 21 June 11 16:41 BST (UK)
Hello,
Is there anyone who can tell me if someone born in Chebsey in 1806, would be registered at Wolaston? I dont know the area so have no idea if the two places are connected or not.
thanks,
Sooshi

Hi

There were no birth registrations in those days - only baptismal/christening entries in parish registers

Civil Reg was only introduced in 1837

Hello Carole
I found the information on the Stafforshire Parish Records, and just wondered if the village and church were near to each other.

Hi

I don't think Chebsey and Wollaston were very close - approx 30 miles from each other if the route map I used is right.  Wollaston appears to be near Dudley

Perhaps somebody with a better knowledge of the area will be able to help

Hello,

I think from reading Sooshi's other post that the place mentioned is Wolstanton which is just north of Newcastle under Lyme and not near Chebsey.

Yes - my route map shows about 20 miles apart
