Title: Cocketts Church yard
Post by: angy65 on Sunday 19 June 11 10:02 BST (UK)
Hi
Would someone be able to tell me where l can find burial records for Cocketts Church yard, I think it's St Peters in Cockett. My mum has just told me that her maternal granmother is buried there as she remembers going there when she was young. unfortunately l don't have a date of death but it was in the late 40's after the war, and her name is Eliza Jane Griffiths nee Hanney. I would also be interested to see if she is in a family plot.
Thanks for any help.

Hi

I dont think the info is available online but you could email them and ask if they hold the records, explain you live in Australia, and what info you are looking for - their email address is:

westglamarchives[-- at --]@swansea.gov.uk

Good Luck !

Hi Angy,

I have visited the WGAS today and searched the burial register for St Peter's Cockett from 1941-1952
and there are only two entries for a  Eliza/ Elizabeth Griffiths. One in 1945 and the other 1951.

the first and most likely is Eliza Jane Griffiths, of White Bungalow, Cadle, Fforetfach, Swansea.
July 22nd 1945 aged 72 yrs. date of burial July 25th 1945. Grave number  N:E: 94.

the second is Elizabeth Griffiths, 37, Granogwen Rd, Mayhill, Swansea. August 2nd 1951 aged 83yrs.
Grave number E: 491.

Kind Regards,

Rob.

hope the info i sent you is useful and applicable.
There are large areas of St Peter's graveyard that are still unmarked and isolated. i suggest you contact the reverand who will guide you to the grave number i gave you and help you further.
i am unable to assist you more and wish you well in your family quest.

Hello Rob  :)

Angy has not been on here since early hours of 16th August so perhaps has not yet seen your helpful Postings.

Hopefully she will return and let us know whether you have found the right Eliza and whether this request is now complete.

Kind Regards
Morgan
