Hi

When you have a new tab open, near the top on the right-hand side is there a yellow folder named "Other bookmarks"?  Have you had a look in there?

It should copy bookmarks/favorites from your current browser ..... or at least give the option ...

Personally I have tried Google chrome, but it doesn't seem to work very well with W7, so I have continued with IE9 (for my very many sins)

Has your husband used the relevant option to copy his favourites over as I guess they wouldn't just appear that first time he is using it. I don't use Chrome so don't know how to do it but there must be an option there somewhere.

In Chrome, click on the spanner symbol in the top right corner, just below the red box with the white cross.

Click on Options

On the left side, click on Personal Stuff

Next to Browsing Data click on the box marked Import data from another browser.
You should find that already filled in with the options ticked. If not, click on the down arrow to choose the browser you want to export from.

I downloaded Chrome a few days ago, & was surprised to find it did this automatically from Firefox.

Yes, I thought it did it automatically from IE when I downloaded Chrome some months ago; I just clicked on "My bookmarks" and they were all there waiting for me  :) .

Hope you get it sorted.

Don't look glum Groom, what o/s do you use? I use W7, perhaps the two aren't as compatible as they might be.

Google chrome seems easily the fastest browser at present

I only use XP so cannot advise on compatability

My next attempt at Google chrome will have to be postponed. Yesterday I tried and only just failed to slice the top off my left thumb, so my use of the keyboard is a little restricted at present.

How did you manage that trying Google Chrome?  ;D ;D

Sounds painful - I hope you are OK.  :)

 :o Ouch!

I've had Chrome for a couple of weeks now, & I must say I'm quite impressed with it. It's faster than Firefox, & seems better behaved!

I see Firefox 5 is now out, I couldn't get on with Firefox 4, so won't be bothering with that.

Well I downloaded it but, unfortunately, it is not compatible with RoboForm which I use for all my passwords, also I couldn't even get it to load its own Google Toolbar, although it did import FreeBMD, FreeREG and BBCNEWS shortcuts from the Mozilla toolbar ::)

I don't think I'll bother with it, it seems more trouble than it's worth and when I tried to download something, it wasn't any quicker than Mozilla.

Trying to cut a piece of board to a precise size for a model base. By the feel of it, the flap which was the top of my thumb will not heal back onto the rest of my thumb. Thanks folks. However, my son uses Google Chrome successfully with XP. I had problems with it, and then downloaded Chrome OS to use in a virtual machine to see how that performed. Truth is it just crashed my virtual machine, and the real one which was running it!

Roger - It was after I downloaded Google Chrome that my laptop started playing up well, more than that, it needed intensive care.  I've now deleted GC, done all the fixes and hopefully my laptop is living to fight another day. ::)

Lizzie

Sorry to hear about your accident, sounds nasty.

Thanks Lizzie. The quality of treatment varies greatly between nurses in the same practice. The one I saw when I did the injury made an excellent job, and the dressing had to be cut off when I went for a change. The second one lasted less than 12 hours, and I have held it in place with a variety of things, plasters, rubber bands etc. at least it only has another 16 hours or so to go.
When I installed Google Chrome Lizzie my laptop was almost new and still strange, but I managed to do a system restore and got rid of it. A glutton for punishment I downloaded the operating system, and tried to run it in a VMWare virtual machine. Rubbish! It simply froze. So I shan't be playing with Chrome again for a while. I now have an HTC Android phone, problems with several of the apps. too, also it stops due to "unknown error" halfway through a sync. On the subject of syncing, Sugar sync keeps all my files backed up seemlessly, though the first time tgook 16 hours total it now does them in realtime as I use them. Some people can produce decent software, why can't they all?

Google Chrome keeps giving me this messagee

No data received
Unable to load the web page because the server sent no data.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this web page later.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

seems to be when I'm replying or refreshing on RC.

Noticed forum on Google Support but not precisely my prob.  Someone mentioned McAfee and AVG, as this laptop came with the former installed (trial version) I might just un-install and see what happens.

I'm running Google Chrome web browser successfully on Vista with McAfee antivirus software (much faster than IE9).  These Error 324 messages are often the result of problems with the cache (Chrome uses a lot of cache which is what makes it so quick).  Have you tried clearing the cache?  If you aren't sure, you can do it by:

1) Go to the spanner icon on the right of the address bar.
2) Then click “options”
3) Then click “under the bonnet”
4) Click “clear browsing data” and then select the appropriate period of time.
5) Then set to “everything” and click “clear browsing data”.
6) Now open a new tab and see if it works.

Apparently the problem with my HTC desire was due to a known bug, a download from the company website seems to have dealt with the situation though.
