Title: Date of registration
Post by: gh03 on Friday 17 June 11 12:50 BST (UK)
Hello,

Could someone please tell me if a death is registered in a particular quarter i.e. sept 1961 would the death definitely be in the previous 3 months or so or is it possible the death could be sooner than that but registration delayed?  The date of registration I have been given is one year out from what I expected.

Thanks

A delay would depend on if there was a Coroner's Inquest. This information would be included on the cert.
2 weeks is the period one has to register an event.

Another possibility, but a rare one,   Is if  a body was discovered washed up on the beach  or in suspicious circumstances.              Or a  person living on their own  and no one noticed them missing.

Hi

How reliable is the date you think it should be?
