Title: 1838 Catholic Parish Register- Scotland
Post by: Closed Account on Thursday 16 June 11 15:04 BST (UK)
Looking for some thoughts/ideas on the two names noted on this 1838 Catholic Parish register from Glasgow.  The line in question is the fourth from the bottom, and the column in question is the second from the last.  It reads across as follows:

Grace | lawful | Charles McLaughlin + Margt Lochry <could be written as Lockey/Lochay/etc> |
     11 Jun do | 18 do do | <Witness> + <Witness> | Charles Macdonald

My best guess would be "David Laing" and "Helen Darling"  I'm more confident of the latter.

Thank you two for the input.  The surname looks like some variant of Lochry to me, but I'm not so sure about the forename due to the condition of the writing on the document.  The second name is more of a mystery.  I was hoping it could be something like Darby.  It looked a bit like "Daubey" or "Daubry" to me, but if not then I was thinking "Dochry" or some variant of Dougherty from the area of Ireland that the married couple was from.  I will go back to some other records to see if Darling produces any leads.
