Hi,
My 2nd Great Grandfather Thomas Barrett was born 15 Mar 1775 in Walgrave. At some point prior to 1800 he started his trip to America. In 1801 his personal property was 5 horses. We know that he lived in the William Cecil, Frontier Scout, household where he was considered part of the family. In 1803 he bought 100 acres of land in Baptist Valley, Virginia and over time owned up to 400 acres. During the Civil War he lost most of the land which he had used as collateral for neighbors loans which went to default.
I have been trying to imagine his thoughts and experiences of migrating during that timeframe. Maybe some of the local historians could give me some insight.
Thanks
Bruce
