Can't place this family on 1891/1901c   ???

Where do you get the names of these children from? Do you have a birth
cetificate of one of the children that gives their mother's maiden name as McNALLY

FreeBMD has the marriage entry
1879 Newcastle T
John HALL
Catherine McNALLY
there is a postem added 18/06/2006
asking to make contact if you are related to either person

This is the nearest couple I can see on 1881 census, they have a 10month old son Robert

1881
census 38 Blagdon St N on T
John HALL 1857 Moulder Iron
Catherine 1861
Robert son 1880 (10 mths)
All born Newcastle

by 1891 John is widowed

16 Bedford Place All Saints Newcastle On Tyne
John HALL widower 1861 Iron Moulder
Robert son 1880
Elizabeth 1882
William 1884
Mary A 1886
All born Newcastle on Tyne

There's this death entry
Newcastle 1890
Catherine HALL age 31 (1859) - perhaps she died while giving birth to Annie

1901c 5, Johnsons Entry, All Saints
John HALL Head Widower 1857 Metal Moulder
Lizzie dau 1882
William son 1885 Chain Horse Driver
Mary A 1887
Annie dau 1889
William CAWTHORN son in law 1884 Labourer Quay
All born Newcastle

If you don't have a b/c it may be worth obtaining one of the children closest to the census date that you have mentioned at least this would give you an address, fathers occupation

Hello to you all, thanks for all your help.

I found the ref for Josephus,Sara Ann and Margarita on the familysearch.org under England births and christenings. Names appear to be written Latin style but says Catherine McNally for the mother.
I do have a note of the other  family mentioned that you posted CJO.

LadyHawke - that cannot be my family as John and Catherine came to NZ with 4 children Minnie,Margaret,Willie and John in 1902 on the "Gothic" Ship

That is also my note on the postem-thanks.

On the 1881 census John and Catherine have 2 children George W and Mary Taresa and they are living at 44 Town Street. Next door at 42 is the brother of John named Thomas and his wife Isabella (who was a sister to Catherine McNally).
I was thinking that those 3 others i mentioned may have been their children also and could have died?

On the IGI index there is a Sara Anna Hall with birth and christening date and parents John Hall and Catherine McNally.
Birth 8 Nov 1890 and christening March 1891 St Josephs Gateshead.

Are they not mentioned in the 1891 census for Gateshead Durham??

Kate is a pet name for a lady called Catherine/Katherine!!, check the ages of John and Kate with the 1881 census, and they also have a George W aged 11 which ties in with the 1881 census?

I note now there are two combinations of John Hall and Catherine the family i am linked to were living at 44 Town Street Gateshead Durham in the 1881 census and at that time had two children George W and Mary Taresa.
The Town Street couple were the family that came to NZ with 4 children, Minnie,Margaret,Willie and John.

The other family was living at 38 Blagdon Street.

Thanks for your help.

This family, John and Catherine are my great grandparents, their son William is my grandfather. I have his birth certificate and Catherine's maiden name was Tiernan.
I would dearly love to find out more about Catherine, she had Irish roots, and she  died when Annie was 3 months old and we know nothing about her. Any info or help would most welcome. Thanks

Many many thanks for your replies, found this board  by accident. This is definitely my family, confirmed by remembering my grandad Billy (William) talking about his uncle Barney (Bernard)
