Title: wootton marriage 1800's
Post by: sooshi on Saturday 11 June 11 15:15 BST (UK)
Hello,
I'm trying to find the date of the marriage between John Wootton aged 35  ( born in Chebsey, Staffs) and Mary aged 30 (born in Seighford) (on the 1841 census). I've tried the parish records but cant seem to find anything, even Johns birth details.
Could anyone help me please?
best wishes
Nita

Gosh Yozzer - that was quick. I wondered if Marys maiden name was Lewis as they have given it as a second name to their daughter, (but I cant quite make out what her first name is). Those parish records have my head reeling!
Anyway thats great and thank you , maybe I can go on now and find Johns parents
regards

Hi

I have a few Wootton's on my family tree, but do not think they are connected to your's.  but one strange name that may ring a bell.  Hyla Alfred Wootton he married Margaret Merrick.

Had you found the birth record for John?  This maybe him

   21 Mar 1802 John, s. of Charles & Martha Wootton, born 18 Feb 1802.
   Baptisms. (Baptism)
Staffordshire: Wolstanton - Parish Registers, 1769-1812

Cheers

Hello Suzy W!
No, I certainly havnt got of the name Hyla Alfred - not so far anyway! Its very unusual, unless its a misreading of the original document.
I did see the entry for John, son of charles and Martha but the birth date is a little too far out at 1802. and what relation is Wolaston to Chebsey I wonder. Oh well, thats todays task.
Many thanks for your reply,
Sooshi
