Hi I am looking for a John Frederick Nott who was born in Worcestershire in 1834, i think maybe in 1871 cencus in Kidderminster, we know he married a Martha Hannah Davis from Wales b1834.
But we cant find out who his parents were of if he had brothers/sisters.
Many thanks

The only John Nott I can see born c1834 and living Kidderminster in 1871 has a wife Charlotte. Nor can I find a marriage for a John Nott and a martha Davi(e)s.
can you give us some reference no's for the census and marriage records?
-
Hi That was quick, sorry don't have any references, Martha comes from Wales, maybe married in Wales, its one of those brick walls. They both died in New Zealand.
Thanks

Ok so looking on NZ DMD's Martha Nott died 1924 age 94 years which means born c1830.
The most likely John Nott death is 1926 age 87. The other ages at death don't come close to a birth date of c1834. However this is John Thomas Nott.
The only two with Frederick as one of their names died 1932 age 66 and died 1961 age 66 so nowhere near the needed birth date.
Are you sure he was a John Frederick.
As I said before I can'r find a marriage of a John Nott to a Martha in UK. There is one in NZ in 1894 but she was a martha Prouse. Could they both have been married before or do you have a birth certificate for one of their children with martha's maiden name on it?

What was Johns Occp in NZ?
Was he a Cordwainer ie Shoemaker?

Well that has made me do some more work on tree. John Nott did marry twice, Martha Hannah Davis( b1834 )Wales, they had 2 children Eunice Drusilla b 1864, Frederick John b 1866, both born Worcester, came to NZ in 1874, Martha H died 1894, John married Martha Prouse 1895 in NZ. John died NZ 1910 71yrs, makes him born 1839. I think it was Frederick John who was the shoemaker, John was a coach painter. I thought John/Martha H,Eunice/Frederick John would be in the Worcester cencus 1871. Really would like to know Johns parents.
Thanks
Kay

Eunice Drusilla's birth reg is actually in the December quarter 1863 Worcester vol 6c page 295.
A marriage in Wales should still show up on FreeBMD. Between 1850 and 1880 there is only one marriage for a John Nott to a Martha and that is in Swansea in 1872 and she is Martha Griffith.
Between 1850 and 1874 I tried many combinations of (K)Not(t) Davi(e)s with and without surnames and nothing came up. After finding the census below I tried for a marriage using Hannah as the first name but no go.
The original image definitely looks like 48 for Hannah's age.
1871 RG10/3067/35/63
Claines Worcestershire
John KNOTT 37 shoemaker St Peters Worc
HANNAH 48 Fordham Montgomeryshire
Eunice 7
Frederick 5
both born St Martins Worc

Thanks for that extra info Dovedale and also to you crisane for finding the 1871 census before I came on-line :)
This is why I asked if he was a Cordwainer as I had found this earlier and the POB matches the 1871 which I had not found;
1851 Census
7 Little London,
Claines, Worcestershire
HO107/2046/136/30
George NOTT, 50, Head, Widower, Police Constable, born Tranlick, Monmouthshire, Wales
JOHN Nott, 17, Son, Unm, Cordwainer, born St Peters, Worcestershire
Eliza Nott, 14, Daug, born St Peters, Worcestershire
Charles Nott, 6, Son, born Claines, Worcestershire
1861 Census John NOTT, 27, Lodger, Unm, Shoe Maker born Worcester, is in Birmingham, Warwickshire in a Household of Shoe Makers;
RG9/2160/36/24
Now to find the 1841!

Parents GEORGE and ELIZABETH
Only one on Batch
(Source IGI Extracted Record)
JOHN NOTT Christened 27 April 1834, Saint Martin, Worcester, Worcester, England
Parents GEORGE/ELIZABETH
On the same Batch is;
FREDERICK Nott, 08 April 1827
GEORGE Nott, 11 April 1830
WILLIAM Nott, 22 January 1832
EDWARD Nott, 15 November 1835
(Source IGI Extracted Records)
ELIZA NOTT chrsitened 15 October 1838, Saint Peter, Worcester, Worcester

Possible Death Regs;
Elizabeth NOTT, Droitwich;
Dec 1844
Dec 1848
Dec 1849
Droitwich is the Reg District for Claines were Charle Notts Birth was Reg in 1844;
CHARLES Nott, Dec 1844, Droitwich, 18 224
Elizabeth must have died between Charles Birth and 1851 Census.
If you purchase Charles B/C it will give you Elizabeths Maiden Name.
George Nott is still alive in 1801. He gives his POB as Trulick, Tranlick on various Census 1800-180
I cant find a Death Reg that works for him post 1881.

Parents GEORGE/ELIZABETH

wow you hav just blown my tiny mind, looks like you on the right track, we have George as a possible father and Lismore, not sure what that means, a place in Scotland/Wales or meant to be Lisa More. Will have a coffee and go through what you have given me.Are you related Trish.?
Many thanks
Kay

Thanks crisane :)
Hi Kay,
Not I am not related but I am originally from NZ.
It was late last night when I posted so I made a couple of mistakes.
I meant to Say George was on Census 1851-1881.
The reason I cant find the Death reg is depending on who informed on his Death they may have not known his true age and he may be down as younger than he actually was on FreeeBMD Death Reg.
Have a look yourself as he probably died 1881-1891.
Trish :)
