Keziah, thank you for your reply. I though my William's father was James but I wasn't sure, but this confirms it. I am directly connected to their son William who married Eliza Bloomfield and came with all his family to Australia. Are you connected to the Taylor family If so do you want information on the Australian line.? I live in Tumut Nsw Australia. Regards Phyllis. Hartay

Hi again Trish, I have corrected my post to show that you found the marriage :-[ :P ;D
-
Hello Trish
Goodness such a lot of wonderful info from Trish & Annes. Re Trish's info on the marriage from Freereg the Parish is St James, South Elmham not Eltham - I have a transcript of those PR's here & the rest of the info is spot on. The Banns for their marriage were called on 13th, 20th & 27th December 1801.
As Trish suggested I am not related to the Taylor's just happy to help.

Hello, I am trying to determine whether the Janet Taylor born at Braidwood in NSW in 1860 to William and Eliza Taylor is the same family as being discussed here. Janet Taylor is my great great grandmother. I note that William and Eliza came to Australia with several children: William (1830), Henry (1833), Mary Anne (1835), Alfred (1836), Maria (1839), Caroline (1841), Dinah (1843), Martha (1845), and James (1848).
Can anyone confirm that William and Eliza had more children after coming to Australia?
Kind regards, Vanessa

Hi Vanessa,
Welcome to Rootschat.
According to a family Tree I found Jane is the Daughter of WILLIAM born c 1829 To William TAYLOR and ELiza BLOOMFIELD.
Jane was ISABELLA JANE, Birth 19 July 1860, Little River, Braidwood, NSW.
She Married John Alexander TATE.
Is this your Jane?
If so then her Parents were;
William TAYLOR 1829=1914
Elizabeth BOWLAND 1833-1897
So therefore next generation back is;
William TAYLOR 1810-1892
Eliza BLOOMFIELD 1810-1885
And then back again;
James TAYLOR 1786
Lydia BROWS 1777
Interestingly NSW BMD has 2 Reg;
ISABELLA Taylor, 5694/1860 to William/Elizabeth
JANET Taylor, 5550/1860 to William/Eliza
Both Reg Braidwood
hartay will be thrilled I am sure to find another descendant of this Family.

Hi Trish,
It appears that this is not my Janet Taylor..as she married John Torpey. I have her death cert. so I know for certain 1860 is her date of birth. Perhaps place of birth was recorded incorrectly?
Back to the drawing board!
Thanks for responding!
Vanessa
-
Maybe the Janet 1860 is yours and the Isabella 1860 belongs to the other Tree.
Does your Janets Death Cert have her Mothers maiden name?
-
Someone has your Janet who Married John Torpey as born 1860 Ballarat, Victoria to Alexander TAYLOR and Ann HODGES.
Janet died 1933
They only have 1 Child for Janet/John (I presume the one they are descended from);
ELIZABETH Ann Torpey 1878-1962
-
Many thanks for your help Trish, this indeed is her. :D
Kind regards, Vanessa
-
Checking Victorian indexes I cant find a Birth Reg 1858-1861 for a Janet with Father Alexander.
Do you have Janet/Johns Marriage Cert?
-
Hi Trish, Unfortunately no. The Taylors and Torpeys have been very difficult for me to trace. I remember now that I looked at the Vic indexes and found two other children to Alexander and Ann.
-
They might have ended up in NSW as there are a Alexander/Anne/Annie Jane/Anne Jane having Children there 1876-1880
Have a look on NSW BMD.
Trish :)
-
If you can I think the Marriage Cert is a must as it will have Fathers name occp etc.
-
Thanks very much Trish!
-
If you get the Cert let us know and I am sure others on the Australian Board can help more.
Some have access to Records I dont including Victorian BMD indexes that they own. There are some brilliant minds on there.
In fact a posting on there might be a good idea.
Cut and paste some of the info you have from here.
Cheers,
Trish :)

Hello Hartay, I'm connected to the Taylor family and am a direct descendant of James and Lydia Taylor through their son John. I have quite a bit of info on the family (much of it kindly provided by Geoff Robinson of the Worlingworth History group).
I haven't been able to get any further back with Susannah Carver (1740-1827), I don't know what parish she came from. John's (1746-1817) parents were James Taylor (b.c. 1717) and Elizabeth Watling (b. 1718); I believe James was the illegitimate son of Sarah Taylor, and his father most likely a John Richards - John was a yeoman of Worlingworth, and he and James Richards of Bedfield agreed to pay £40 " to indemnify the parish from the bastard child of Sarah Taylor". Later John remembered young James in his will.
Your William and wife Eliza and family arrived in Sydney on 17 December 1852 on the ship "Hyspades". Their young son James (b. 1848) died at sea.
Please pm me if I can be of any further help,
Janet
