Title: Request for burnley gravestone photo
Post by: fenifur on Thursday 09 June 11 22:51 BST (UK)
Hello, I would love to have a photo of the grave for William Hargreave morley, d.1927, grave A696 if that helps, in the 'old part' of the graveyard I believe I also believe there are 2 others in the same grave. I would usually travel myself, but being in Chichester it's just too far away! I can return the favour for any near me too!
Thanks,
Jenny

Hi Jenny,

I have got one for Ronone that is pending too, but I was unsure if cjstar had got yours.  I have now made a very LARGE note of it and will do both when the weather improves a tad  ::)  Unfortunately Burnley is in that lovely band of rain and wind that is crossing at the moment and even the dog refuses to go outside!!

There appears to be 5 people buried in plot A696.  I can post the details if you'd like?

 :)

Now that you know their names you can find them on http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/ to confirm the grave number.

118 Briercliffe Road appears to have been the address of Burnley workhouse.

Thank you once again for all the info, I am very grateful and so is my friend. William H Morley's home address at the time of his death was 438 Briercliffe Road Burnley, I have found his will index on Ancestry. 118 Briercliffe Rd was indeed the workhouse, at some point it became Burnley General Hospital. Why William was in there I don't know. I have been able to connect all the names buried with William except one. Strangely enough his wife Susannah died November 1927 but don't know as yet where she is buried. Her maiden name was Hartley so as you can imagine her family are proving harder to find. However, I digress, thank you once again. :)
best wishes
Margaret

Hi,

I finally managed to get to the cemetery, but. sadly there is no headstone for grave A696.
