Title: Burial/Cremation Records Salford
Post by: BucksExile on Tuesday 07 June 11 19:50 BST (UK)
Hi one & all.
I'm trying to find burial or cremation records of a relative.
My grandad died at Ladywell Hosp, 1964. He was living at Bloom St, Salford.
Does anyone know to which cemetery he may have gone ( I don't know the area), and how to locate the records?

Hi as you didn't give must details as to who your looking for, why not look on these sites .

http://www.salford.gov.uk/cemeteries.htm

http://www.cemsearch.co.uk/

If Roman Catholic then they could even be in these ?

Or even possibly in Manchester?

http://www.burialrecords.manchester.gov.uk/GenSearch.aspx

And as far as Trafford

Hi Willie.
I looked at a few but no joy. The M/cr online burial site won't give me anything.
The person I'm looking for is John Butterworth born 1900. He died 24th June 1964 at Ladywell Hosp, Pendleton.  I presume that's Salford.
Would he have gone to the nearest cemetery to his home or hospital?
Or where his family requested?
The more I look, the more questions I have.

Hi, it might be worth you either emailing or phoning Salford local history library and asking if they would be so kind to look for any obituary in there local papers?

local.history[at]salford.gov.uk   replace [at]  with @ in the email address.
    Tel: 0161 778 0814
    http://www.salford.gov.uk/lhlibrary.htm

Explain where you live and a trip there is not an option, they are very good.
You could also ask for the same from this rootschat who is making a trip to Manchester soon i think?

Good luck

Also, if by chance he was cremated and it was carried out in Manchester, you may wish to give these a ring?

By the way, are any other family members buried/cremated in either Manchester or Salford ?
Maybe his ashes are interned with them?

Ta for the email addy Lord V. I contacted Salford local history, & await any news.
I don't know if he was buried or cremated. As for other family members I don't know again. I heard he was estranged from his family.

Hi.
He was born in Middleton, but split from the family and moved to Salford sometime. He died before I was born, so I never knew him.

Hi

As the crow flies

Weaste Cemetery seems to be nearer than Agecroft Cemetery but only by half a KM if that

If you have the correct date of death try the tip from this posting.
