Hello
does anyone have a connection to JANE OWEN of LLANGUGIG/LLANIDLOES? born around 1800
She had a child called Mary bapt in Zion Independant in LLanidloes 17 Jan 1823.
Father was JAMES WATTIS of a parish called GEENANDWADSON???????????
Anyone heard of this groom's parish or a connectionwith JANE ?

where did you find the groom's parish? Can you add a scan of the writing?

There's a Gelligasson in the parish of Llanfair Caereinion.
Have you tried the archives to see if there's a bastardy bond?

Hi Avrilw
Not too sure whether there is any connection:
1841 Census: Jane Owen age 88 born about 1753, Towyn Merionethshire, Susan*ah Owen age 64 born about 1777.
1851 Census: Susannah Owen, born in Llandovery Carmarthenshire is living in Rhymney Monmouthshire
she appears as a mother in law. Living with daughter Mary, married to David Jenkins.
Not sure if I have helped at all, or confused you more, but Susannah is in my family tree. No trace of John Owen though.
Regards
Jean

thanks,
but I don't think there is a connection. I have a Jane Wattis in Worcestershire censuses showing her to be born in Llanidloes and LLanladus(also LLanidloes I think) dates are consistent with her birth around 1800
thanks anyway
Avril
