I have recently found a record of a E H GIOT who was in the Jersey Militia Jul 1940, does anyone know where and how I can get more details as he may be a missing link on our family tree. Many thanks for any assistance

Was he made a POW when Jersey was invaded? Here is a link from the NA - http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/research-guides/prisoners-war-1939-1953.htm

Other records for soldiers serving after 1920 are held by the MOD. You could contact them to discover if they include records for his unit - http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/army.html

All I know is that we found his name on  honour role list in the Military Museum in Castle Elizabeth and there is what would appear to be a group photo of them all taken on the 6th Jul 1940. Many thanks for the info I will see what i can dig up, Cheers
