Title: Henry Lawton abt 1813, Audley, Staffordshire
Post by: the fisherman on Monday 30 May 11 17:13 BST (UK)
Hi,
I am trying to find the Baptism/Christening of Henry Lawton. On the 1851 census his birth year is given as 1813 and place of birth as Audley, Staffordshire.
He married Ellen Machin in Sept 1833 in Audley, so I am assuming his place of birth is correct.
Is there just one main church in that area where he could have been baptised? If so, does anyone have access to the records of that church who could have a look for me. I would really appreciate it.
Thank you

Looks as if the parish church of St. James is the only one dating back that far, all the non conformists are much later.

Worth making a note of,   IGI submitted record shows a Henry Lawton ch. 10.10.1813 Keele, father William mother Mary.

Keele came under the same registration dist of Newcastle Under Lyne  as Audley did  latterly
