Hi oletta
I have been reading your messages about the Bowman family. It seems we have the same search! I think you are much further on than me as I have just got started following a visit to the Blacksmith Forge in Gt Corby - Robert and Mary Bowman were my great grandparents.

Yes, I agree with Harris, too.
My mum grew up on Shirley High Street! No idea what number, though.

Hello Linda
Thank you for your reply. Do you know if Shirley street was a very busy street and one of the main streets?
Thank you again
Best wishes

I don't know much about it, Oletta, but I know it was a street that had at least some shops on it. My grandfather was a hairdresser (they lived above the shop), and next door was a pie shop, or something similar. I know that because I remember Mum telling me how schoolboys thought it was hilarious to open the door to Grandad's shop, shout "Yah! Sweeney Todd!" and run away! And there was a bakery opposite.
