Hi, I am trying to find out what happened to my fathers elder sister Clara Barraclough born Leeds September 1900. I have found a death Apl May June in Leeds age 19 in 1920. I remember someone saying a girl in the family had commited suicide . I wonder if this is it. Would I have to send for the cert. to find out?
Have a good weekend

Hi Lurchergirly,
Ordering a copy of the death certificate should tell you what caused Clara's death
I found the following - which I hoped might indicate the cause of death but as you can see unfortunately it doesn't.
Harehills Cemetery, Leeds
Clara Barraclough
Burial Date 19th May 1920
Age 19 years
Year of Birth 1901
Grave Type Consecrated
Grave Section D1
Grave Number 549
I hope that this is of some use to you even though it does not answer your original question.

Many thanks, I think this may be her as her father was buried in Harehills Cemetry & later family in New Wortley.

Lurchergirly,
You are most welcome. Do you have the details of her fathers burial or of the New Wortley burials? If not I can have a look and see if I can find any details for you.

Hi,
Grandad James was Harehills I think in 1943 age 71, Grandma Charlotte was deff. New Wortley 1961 age 89 (last time I tried to find the grave before we moved from Leeds the cemetry was an awful mess & I had to give up) Uncle Rowland 1950 age 52 ?New Wortley. Uncle George died in 1922 age 14, Albert in 1944 age 49 & Edith May in 1893 age 1.
As you can tell I do not know much about Dad's family ( I have just found out one sisters married name this week & what happened to her after she emigrated, with help from this site).
Many thanks for your help, Loma.

I have sorted out the James Barraclough in Harehills cem. He was a jeweller & the family has some of the same first names but I have found no family connection.
If you have time could you try to find my GGF William Berrington 1845-1886 his wife was Rebecca 1847-1935, Williams GM was Ruth Berrington 1783-1880. It would be West Bromwich/Smethwick area. It would help if I could see who has been put in with who!
Have a good day (dull & cold in Brid.)

Loma,
Unfortunately I do not have access to burial records for either West Bromwich or Smethwick. I just have access to some Leeds burial records.
Maybe if you make a request on the Staffordshire look up request board you might find someone who can help you.
Sorry that I cannot help you with this but if I can be of any further help with Yorkshire research please let me know.
Best Wishes
