I am looking for the surname Nesham/Neesham/Newsham anywhere in Surrey before 1661. (Thomas Neesham was rector of Stoke D'Abernon from 1629 until perhaps his death in 1661. He received his M.A. from Cambridge in 1622. I do not know if he came originally from Surrey.)

The only spelling on the Surrey Super Index is NEWSHAM and it appears in the records for Guildford St. Mary Christenings & Burials 1540-1812 & PUTNEY Christenings & Burials 1620-1812 & marriages 1620-1870
Hope this helps,
Jane

I can add that Thomas Neesham married Catherine (Catalina) Johnson in Nov 1628 at St Martin's Vintry in London
Catalina was a widow as her father Roger Cole states in his will "my daughter Catalina JOhnson"
I later tracked down Catalina's first marriage 21.1.1623 to John Johnson at St Saviour's Denmark Park by Licence, have not traced the licence
Bob p.s these are my ancestors.
Catalina was dau of Roger Cole and Anne Maisters.
Roger was son of William Cole of Sudbury in Suffolk and Catalina de Gallegos daughter of Ferdinando de Gallegos of Spanish nobility.
PM me and I can forward more details.
