I read 'Glenbervie' as the town on the 1st line, can anyone please read the county?
Many thanks for any help.

Thanks for that, but I'm still unable to read the county.

Glenbervie is located in the North East of Scotland in the Howe o' the Mearns. One mile from the village of Drumlithie, and eight miles south of Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire, this picturesque rural area is home to Glenbervie House and estate.
The old, quaint kirkyard in Glenbervie is the final resting place of the great grandparents of the noted Scottish poet Robert Burns.
Is it in Aberdeenshire?

It's in Kincardineshire

I've been struggling to read the 'county' - could it be written as Mearnshire ::) ::) ::)

Thanks. I do know that it 'should' say Kincardineshire, but I'm fairly sure it starts with an M. Maybe I should just put Kincardineshire into my records, but I'm keen to know what it really says. I can't read Mearnshire, I think it's likely to be some archaic form.

I see Mearnsh(r - as superscript)

You may well be right, thanks. I'll leave the topic open for a while to try to get another pair of eyes to confirm...

Seems that Kincardineshire was also known as Mearns http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kincardineshire
hence (presumably) Mearns shire ???

Yes - The author, Lewis Grassic Gibbon, wrote about it and it's people.
