Since Andrew was in the military, have you tried searching the military births database at Find My Past. I saw an entry in the database for a Charles Robinson with Canada listed as the station and country of birth from the GRO Army Chaplains Birth Indices (1796 to 1880) section (year 1838-1839, page 211). You can order a copy of the birth registration from the GRO using their overseas births option with the information I've supplied. There were other entries for Charles Robinsons born in Canada in that time period but they included the father's regimental information which wasn't a match. This entry didn't include that information.
I couldn't find an entry for Alexander.
Find My Past also has a military service record for Andrew Robinson of the 85th Light Infantry if you don't have a copy of it already.

There was no statutory registration for births in Ontario until 1869 and the first available census is 1851/52. Even if the 1841 Lower Canada census was available Andrew and family wouldn't be on it as British military personnel and their families weren't included on it.
According to his military file, the Andrew Robinson who served in the 85th Foot (also called the 85th Light Infantry in the file) was born in St. Cuthberts, Edinburgh about 1802. He attested into the 85th on 28 July 1825 in London. He served for 20 years, 360 days. His discharge documents are dated 21 Jul 1846 in Limerick. From 10 Dec 1825 until 17 Nov 1831 he served in Malta and Gilbraltor and from 8 Aug 1836 until 20 Nov 1842 he served in North America.
Did Andrew have more than one daughter named Sarah. I have found an entry in the Armed Forces BMD - GRO Regimental Birth Indices (1761 to 1924) - at FindMyPast for a Sarah Robinson who born in Halifax in 1836 (volume 128, page 26) which indicates the father was in the 85th Foot.
I haven't been able the family together on any census. What was Andrew's wife's name? How many other children do you think they had? Robinson is such a common name, how sure are you that Charles, Alexander and Sarah are siblings?
