Title: George Sumner b about 1795 Cheshire
Post by: stanspot on Sunday 22 May 11 14:42 BST (UK)
Hello

I am looking for the parents for a George Sumner b abt 1795 , he married an Elizabeth Condliffe in Warmingham, Cheshire in 1817 and they had at least nine children.

I have found a Philip Sumner md to an Ellen Podmore who married 1789 Sandbach.  I have also found christenings for their 8 children in Sandbach but unfortunately no George.

As George and Elizabeth have children called Philip and Ellen I think it could be a possibility or I could be barking up the wrong tree.

Can anyone help me please?

There are several of these trees there including  a George as third a child of  Philip born 1770  and Eleanor, but no citation provided.

One gives this George's place of birth as Hassal Moss, Sandbach 1796.

might be worth e-mailing to see where they got this info

I can't find Philip in the 1941 census either, and none of the three Georges have a wife called Elizabeth either!
(very quick look) Do you have an occupation for George?

Did George Sumner have any children or grandchildren named James Sumner b. 1850 in England, who immigrated to New York City around late 1860s? In a 1880s directory, I had seen a George Sumner lived a couple doors down from James.
